Step 1

Complete and submit the LUCAS Center for Imaging Intake Form for approval

Step 2

Once your intake form has been approved, 

1. Submit the following IRB documents to lucascenter@stanford.edu:

  • IRB-approved consent form
  • IRB-approved human subjects protocol
  • IRB approval document

 

2. An MR or PET/MR Technologist will contact you for protocol development and phantom scanning.

Step 3

Initial MRI Training

MRI Safety Training is mandatory for all new users. Click here to view the MRI Safety Training calendar via Calpendo.

 

Instructions:

  • Click on Register New User.
  • Complete the form, select Register, and proceed to Step #2.

2. Use the tab at the top of the page under Training Details to Create the trainings you’ll need to begin using the magnet suites.

  • Select the following mandatory trainings:
    • Initial MRI Training
  • Select the following optional trainings:
    • 7T Hands-On Training (only if using 7T)
    • 3T1 Hands-On Training (only if using PET/MR)
    • Hands-On Training As Needed (not required)

3. Submit, and you’re all set! No further action is required, and please expect to receive an invitation (via email) 1 week before the session.

  • Training is by invitation only. Do not share the invitation with anyone.

 

IMPORTANT

A SoM (School of Medicine) Badge is required to gain access to the LUCAS Center for Imaging and Magnet Suites.

Upon completion of the training(s), please provide your Stanford School of Medicine badge number, alongside the MR Screening and Acknowledgement Forms. We will request magnet access on your behalf.

  • If you do not have a hospital badge, after you’ve completed the MRI Safety Training(s), please contact us to request the form to submit to the Security Photo ID Office (see below).

Step 4

Radioactive Tracers Ordering

 

Important: Order tracer TOI (Time Of Injection) for 45 minutes after scheduled start time.

 

FDG Orders 

 

Email Instructions: 

       1. Fill out the CRA Form

       2. Email completed form to the following individuals: 

Neuraceq Orders 

To order Neuraceq, please contact Sofie (408.842.0520) to first set-up a study-specific account. Please work with your Finance Manager for billing. Sofie will provide a PDF Order Form to be completed, and needs to be sent back via email (w/ PET/MR Technologist cc’d). 

 

To complete specific fields on the PDF Order Form, please see below: 

  • Order Date Date of Order 
  • Injection Date Date of Study 
  • Patient Reference – Subject Identifier (Anonymized) 
  • Injection Time One hour after scheduled time on iLabs 

 

Guidelines & Policies 

  • Orders for Neuraceq should be placed before 2:00 PM PST and at least 2 business days before scheduled scan. 

 

Novel Tracer Orders (from MIPS Cyclotron) 

Email Instructions: 

       1. Create a new email, and use the following template as the message body:

  • Date: 
  • Project PTA: 
  • CRA: SMH090 
  • Pick Up or Drop Off: P021 
  • Total Radioactivity Dose: 
  • Calibrated Injection Time: (add 30 minutes from iLab scheduled start time) 
  • Type of Dose: 
  • Type of Scan: Research 
  • Study Title: 

 

      2. For the subject line, include Dose Needed, Study Title, and Scan Date. 

      3. Send the email to the following individuals: 

Dose Prescription Orders (from Nuclear Medicine MD’s) 

Before injection of a PET radiotracer, we must have a signed dose order from a Nuclear Medicine MD on the IRB protocol.  

All order requests must be sent at least one week in advance unless it was scheduled last minute. Expect to obtain the signed dose order(s) within a few days after receiving your request. 

You may include multiple prescriptions for multiple dates.  

 

Email Instructions: 

       1. Create a new email, and use the following template as the message body: 

  • Subject Name: 
  • Date of Birth (DOB): 
  • MRN: 
  • Scan Date: 
  • Radiotracer & Amount of Radioactivity: 
  • PI 
  • IRB Study Title 

 

       2. For the subject line, enter PET Dose Prescription Request. 

       3. Send the email to the following individuals: 

 

Data Archiving 

Each study is responsible for storing, encrypting, and archiving their data. Please note that the external hard drive must be compatible with our scanner; visit Amazon for suggested Stanford-IT approved devices. 

 

Reconstruction & Data Analysis Time 

Please reserve the Recon Computers in Calpendo to ensure your time slot and prevent overlap with other users. To schedule, please see below:
